The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, located near MacArthur Blvd., has been located in Bethesda since 1903. The church community of "inquiring and discerning hearts" conducts outreach at home and abroad by supporting the local homeless and supporting causes in Honduras, Mozambique, and Burundi. The church is also known for its music program – it features a children's and an adult's choir, along with an organ in its sanctuary – and its popular informal Monday evening service. Religious education is available for children beginning at age four through 18. Nursery care is available during Sunday services.
