Operational for more than 15 years, the Silver Spring Workers Center, formerly known as the Silver Spring Center for Employment and Training, works to offers services for workers who congregate on street corners seeking employment. It conducts Spanish and financial literacy courses and legal services programs. The center assists with the formation of tenant, workers and women's associations. The Silver Spring Workers Center also conducts several employment placement, health education and outreach programs. It administers the English for Speakers of Other Languages program. The center has received the Families Strengthening Award from the Annie E. Casey Foundation/National Council of La Raza's. The Silver Spring Workers Center is a part of CASA of Maryland.
