This magnet arts middle school brings students to the Glenmont area from across the county in search of classes focused on dance, choral, instrumental and digital music, digital art, and TV production.
The building formerly operated as Belt Middle School until 1983. Loiederman opened as a new school in 2005, with Alison Serino as principal. Seventy-five percent of its students are from the neighborhood, while the other twenty-five percent come from the entire county.
Loiederman, named after a civil engineer originally from Argentina who was a supporter of the arts, includes an additional class for middle school students to help foster their education of the arts. Admission to the school is done by a lottery.
