History
Skender Liedl was here in Rangeley on a fall hunting trip, saw that the Red Onion was for sale, and decided to purchase it. Having vacationed here since '58, with his family he knew this is where they wanted live & work. In 1970 Skender, his wife Bruni & their daughter packed up their belongings from Irvington, N.J. bringing with them equipment and recipes from their Restaurant on 18th Ave. The building in which the restaurant is in, is just over 100 years old, it has gone through several transformations over the years, it's been a grocery store, retail store, and a co-ed sauna, then finally a restaurant. The restaurant as you see it now has been expanded from 30 seats to just under 100 with a small service bar, & complete take-out service. We pride ourselves on the fresh dough homemade pizza with a recipe that hasn't changed, friendly service, affordable menu choices, we are kid friendly, & our out-door summer seating area allows well behaved pets.
