Portland High School enrolls more than 1,000 students and employs over 70 teachers. The school serves students in grades 9 through 12. It offers classes in English, math, science, social studies and physical education. Portland High School conducts various advanced placement, honors, college, practical and basic level classes. The school operates art, business, technology, history, language arts and music departments. It also offers classes in consumer and family living, as well as special and technology education. Portland High School s foreign language department provides classes in Spanish, French and Latin. The school s sports department includes various sports activities, including cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, soccer, basketball, swimming, wrestling, baseball, softball and tennis. It is a part of Portland Public Schools, which operates nearly 15 elementary, middle and high schools.
