The Portland Press Herald, founded in 1862, is a daily newspaper that provides news and information to residents throughout Maine. The newspaper is the largest daily in the state and is Maine s only statewide newspaper. It has a circulation of more than 76,000 from Monday through Saturday. Its Sunday edition has a circulation of more than 127,000. The Portland Press Herald is owned by the Seattle Times Company, an independent news and information company that owns seven affiliate newspapers in Washington state and Maine; a network of comprehensive online news, information and advertising Web sites; and printing and distribution subsidiaries.
