Built by a ship captain in 1807, Nickels-Sortwell House is a grand Federal style mansion. Stories of life in the house capture the enchanted lifestyles of an early 19th century shipping magnate and the early 20th century industrialist family who enjoyed the mansion as a summer home and beloved family gathering place. The elegant and spacious house is open to the public from June 1 - October 15 with guided tours and programs. Adjacent to the house is a restored historic garden. Part of the house is available for a unique vacation rental. Decorated with period antiques and all modern conveniences, the rental includes the original kitchen space and three Sortwell family bedrooms. A private tour comes with each rental. The rental is available May 1 - November 1.
