Mountain Glory Farm is located right on the edge of the Great North Woods in Patten, Maine. It is an area full of history, unspoiled beauty, rolling farm fields and small towns populated with friendly Mainers who have been here for generations. It is also an undiscovered 4 season paradise for a wide variety of outdoor activities including: moose safaris, birdwatching, fly fishing, hiking, canoeing, rafting, hunting, ultralite flying, ice fishing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Nearby Baxter State Park's 200,000 acres of protected wilderness is a photographer's delight, crowned by Mount Katahdin where the Appalachian Trail begins. The farm is also the perfect place for anyone who wants to sit peacefully looking out over God's country, observe the Amish way of life and maybe take an easy stroll to watch the grass grow, the leaves turn or the snowflakes fall. Our circa 1890 farmhouse has been reconfigured and renovated offering two duplex apartments. The "home away from home" accommodations provide cozy living rooms, fully equipped kitchens, barbecue decks, new bathrooms and spacious bedrooms with big, warm comforters. Each apartment is well stocked with books, games, maps, satellite TV and a Guest Book full of all the information about this area you will need for "what to do" & "where to go". Views from the farmhouse are of fields and pastures, hedgerows, the mountain range, Mt. Katahdin and our young Amish family's farming endeavors. Moose, red fox, whitetail deer, bear, snow hare, wild turkeys and partridge all wander freely about the farm. Eagles, hawks and ravens soar down the valley. Our 170 acres are ringed with apple trees which in the Spring fill the clean mountain air with their delicate fragrance. And our newly reclaimed heirloom apple orchard blooms right next to the farmhouse. Other farms on the road raise an interesting mix of creatures and crops including: pheasants, horses, long horn steer, cows, dogs, goats, geese, potatoes, hay, blueberries, corn, apples, raspberries and many veggies. Mountain Glory Farm is a classic Maine farm that just happens to be located right on the edge of a wilderness mountain paradise. Choosing the right name for something can be perplexing sometimes. Naming this farm was easy: "Mountain Glory" it is.
