Midcoast Youth Center (MYC) is a community-based organization in Bath, ME, dedicated to providing equitable access to housing, healthcare, support, and opportunities for children, teens, and young adults. They prioritize mental well-being and foster a sense of belonging, ensuring that every youth knows they matter. MYC offers programs such as afterschool and summer programs, workforce development, support for youth experiencing homelessness, community navigation services, coping groups, food security initiatives, and a social enterprise in the form of the largest indoor skatepark in Maine.
As part of the Working Communities Challenge, MYC collaborates with local teams to improve economic outcomes and reduce inequity of opportunity. They also run a meal train program, where community members and organizations donate nutritious meals to MYC youth. Recently, MYC partnered with the Chewonki Foundation to bring the Waypoint mentoring program to their center, empowering RSU 1 middle and high school students to develop leadership skills and explore career aspirations. MYC's mission is to empower Midcoast youth to be healthy, engaged, and resilient, providing them with recreation, education, enrichment, life skills, and support for mental health and housing insecurity.
