Founded in 1874, the Maine Medical Center is a community hospital that serves the Greater Portland region in Maine. It is a nonprofit, private 600-plus-bed center that provides surgery, cardiac catheterization, laboratory and rehabilitative services in more than 35 outpatient clinics. The center offers genetic testing, infertility therapy, robotic prostatectomy, pediatric emergency care and remote critical care monitoring services. It is involved in the treatment of cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. The Maine Medical Center s imaging solutions include ultrasound, diagnostic radiology, mammography and CT scan. It manages The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, which offers and sponsors family-centered health care plans for the children. The center is accredited by The Joint Commission. It is managed by MaineHealth.
