Johnson Outdoors Watercraft, formerly Old Town Canoe, was established in Old Town, Maine, more than 100 years ago. After brief periods as the Indian Old Town Canoe Company and Robertson Old Town Canoe Company, the firm was incorporated in 1903. As early as 1906, records show that Old Town was producing 200-400 boats per month, a phenomenal number considering the time and labor-intensive nature of wood and canvas construction. The company continues to craft a myriad of canoes and kayaks. Johnson Outdoors Watercraft offers five categories of canoes classic wood, river running and tripping, recreational, touring and sporting. In addition, the company provides four categories of kayaks general recreational, recreational touring, day touring and sporting. Johnson Outdoors Watercraft also offers a selection of accessories, such as paddles, lifejackets, seats, straps and anchors.
