The Youth Service Bureau is a private, nonprofit organization that was founded in 1981 to serve the needs of at-risk youths and families. It offers prevention and early intervention programs. The bureau recruits and trains volunteers who have an extraordinary interest in children s rights. It administers an intervention program, Crossroads, for juvenile offenders that provides youth with various opportunities to enhance their accountability and competency levels. The bureau runs the Families In Need of Services (FINS) program, which works with children, families, school officials, community resources and courts in order to reduce the dysfunctional behavior of children. It also offers a nine-month outpatient treatment program, OPTIONS, for adolescents between the ages 12 and 17. The program includes individual, family and group therapies, drug screening, relapse prevention, assessment, and information and referral services. The Youth Service Bureau has offices in Slidell, Franklinton, Bogalusa and Covington, La.
