History
Located in the heart of Mid City, The Cannery was built between 1965-1970 and was the warehouse space for the American Can Company until it's closure in 1988. The American Can Company consisted of a complex of six buildings in total that were designed for the manufacturing of steel cans. After the American Can Company's closure, the site sat dormant for 9 years until Pel Hughes Companies purchased the warehouse in 1997 to open a new location for their growing print and direct marketing company, Pel Hughes. Pel Hughes Companies leased the space to a convention service provider until opening a new business in 2006, Floor de Lis. Once Pel Hughes Companies realized the space could be better utilized as a venue, The Cannery was born. After renovation, in June 2012 the space that had served so many others was redesigned into a high-tech, modern and luxurious venue.
