Built between 1849 and 1855, Silver Lake is a tradition plantation-style house, boasting four tall columns, a wide porch, and six fireplaces. Though of that style it was never part of a large plantation. The house was built on huge piers and sills, which uniquely includes a tree, 48ft.x24in. that supports the front part of the house. It is estimated that the tree started growing in 1755!
