The Office of Secretary of State is one of the departments of the State of Louisiana government. It is responsible for preparing and certifying ballots for elections and administering election laws. The department also administers state corporation and trademark laws, as well as serves as a keeper of the Great Seal of the State of Louisiana. The Office of Secretary of State attests various official laws, documents, proclamations and commissions; administers and preserves the official archives of the state; and promulgates and publishers laws enacted by the legislature. It maintains GeauxBiz, which is a clearinghouse for regulatory information. The department s administrative services section is responsible for the service of taxicab owners, political subdivisions and public opinion polls. In addition, the Office of Secretary of State is responsible for the operation of several outstanding state museums, including Delta Music Museum, Louisiana Military Museum, and Louisiana State Cotton Museum.
