LSU Rice Research Station Office
Established in 1909, Rice Research Station is operated by the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. It conducts various research programs to develop improved seed varieties and enhance production. The center conducts research in the fields of breeding, biotechnology, weed and insect control, disease investigations and variety testing. It also evaluates and improves nutrient and cultural management practices, as well as develops strategies for pests control. The center administers the Rice Breeding Project for the development of superior varieties for the Louisiana rice industry. It produces and distributes foundation seeds and fertilizers, as well as offers soil and water management programs. The center conducts mutation breeding, herbicide resistance, production analysis and planting assessment studies. Rice Research Station also administers the Rice Pathology Project for plant disease management. The center is located in Rayne, La.
