Port of South Louisiana is one of the largest tonnage ports in the United States. With a location in LaPlace, La., the port serves the transportation needs of the logistics, business services and metals industries. Its emergency response division offers a variety of firefighting and safety equipment. Port of South Louisiana assists industries in the development of maritime and industrial facilities. It also leases cargo facilities to various companies, such as Occidental Chemical, Archer Daniels Midland Company and Cargill. The port provides an intermodal transportation network of waterways and roadways, as well as protects natural assets. It owns the Globalplex Intermodal Terminal, which accommodates dry-and break-bulk cargo. Its Geographic Information System tracks data for river hydrology and transportation and pipelines routes.
