The Slidell Police Department provides law enforcement services and works to prevent crime. It operates through training, internal affairs, criminal investigation, records, corrections, communications and patrol divisions. The department is accredited by the Committee for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies. It operates a police academy that is responsible for the training of personnel in the department and more than 20 different agencies. The academy offers training in several disciplines that include firearms, defensive tactics, driving and simulation training. In addition, the academy conducts service training periods and certification classes. The Slidell Police Department s criminal investigation division specializes in domestic violence, narcotic-related crimes, auto theft, residential and vehicle burglary and white-collar crimes.
