Founded in 1915, Lighthouse for the Blind is a nonprofit organization that offers welfare and developmental services for visually impaired individuals. Lighthouse for the Blind provides employment services to visually impaired individuals in core, modern manufacturing operations. The organization offers a range of independent living, competitive employment, and health-related services. It also offers a low-vision clinic and specialists. Lighthouse for the Blind offers free transportation to and from the low-vision clinic for residents of the Greater New Orleans area. It also offers a variety of products, such as magnifiers, lighting, talking clocks and watches, closed-circuit televisions, canes, kitchen utensils, screen magnification software, glare-reducing glasses, signature guides and tactile markers for the visually impaired individuals.
