Louisiana State Police is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It conducts and supports a variety of crime prevention educational programs and awareness seminars regarding burglary prevention, vacation checks, ATM security, and lottery and Internet scams. Louisiana State Police maintains a crisis response team that deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including high-risk warrant arrests and explosive devices, as well as heavily armed criminals and barricaded persons. The agency also has an honor guard that marches in parades, conducts funerals for officers and their family members and attends funerals for area officers killed at the time of duty. Established in 1936, Louisiana State Police maintains a station in Lake Charles, La.
