History
The Club began with seven original members in 1971 and played bocce at several courts around the greater New Orleans Area. In 1983 the first full-time Clubhouse was established on Palmyra and Murat streets where the property was renovated into a facility with three full outdoor bocce courts, a club house, and rental apartments. The Club remained on Palmyra until 1992, when it sold the facility and moved to its current location at 2340 Severn Avenue in Metairie. The Severn avenue facility is completely indoors and features three courts, kitchen, bar area, poker room, and banquet seating for 75 plus individuals. Leading up to Hurricane Katrina, the Club boasted a robust membership of close to 100 individuals (with many more non-members playing in leagues and joining in other events), hosted regional and national bocce tournaments, and was often utilized for special community, cultural, and family events.
