The International School of Louisiana was founded in 2000 as a tuition-free, public charter school. It is a multilanguage immersion school that was chartered by the state of Louisiana that emphasizes French and Spanish language immersion, as well as international awareness. The school is accountable to the state of Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. The International School of Louisiana s faculty members are recruited with the assistance of the Council on the Development of French in Louisiana and the Louisiana Department of Education. Located in New Orleans, it also offers art, music and physical education classes to students as part of their weekly schedule of activities, as well as an after-school program and a variety of extracurricular activities.
