Dr. Marrero is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internist. He provides comprehensive care in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions. He has received several honors for his work as a gastroenterologist, including the American College of Gastroenterologys Clinical Research Award and the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society Clinical Training Program Award. Dr. Marrero has also published research and lectured on a variety of topics, including esophageal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, motor disorders of the esophagus, gastrointestinal bleeding, probiotics, pancreatitis and colon cancer screenings.He regularly participates in the Memorial/LSUHSC Family Medicine Residency Program, lecturing and precepting residents. He serves as a committee member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy practice operations committee. He also volunteers at the Calcasieu Community Clinic, providing free care to eligible Calcasieu residents.
