N 7 Nola

HistoryN7 opened quietly in 2016 to little fanfare on a quiet street in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. No telephone, no website and it is notoriously difficult to find. But once there, one is welcomed wholeheartedly. Most of the dishes at N7 are served family style and meant to shared. The name refers to the highway called Nationale 7, which ran from Paris to the border of Italy. This was where in the mid 1900s vacationing Parisians would take their vacations. And as discerning as they were, small mom and pop hotels and restaurants began to crop up along the route to cater to them. N7 is an homage to that time and was created on a large compound whose previous incarnations were a tire shop and and an old stable. The restaurant was begun by filmmaker Aaron Walker and Chef Yuki Yamaguchi, owners of the long running Japanese Frenchmen Street nightclub Yuki Izakaya. N7 won Bon Appetit Magazine's Best New Restaurants in 2016 and Imbibe Magazine's Best Wine Bar in America in 2016.SpecialtiesFrench dishes-both traditional bistro and country fare as well as some dishes with a Japanese touch. Dishes such as steak au poivre, pork katsu, bouillabaisse, steamed mussels and pommes frites. N7 also hosts a large natural wine selection, sakes and shochu. Named Bon Appetit's Top 10 Best New Restaurants in America 2016. Named Imbibe Magazine's Best Wine Bar in America 2016.
