The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency that preserves peace and detects and prevents crime. It operates a 1070-bed full-service correctional center that offers inmates religious services and group counseling sessions. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office maintains the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), which deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including warrant arrests and explosive devices, as well as heavily armed criminals and barricaded persons. The sheriff s office conducts and supports a variety of crime prevention educational programs and awareness seminars regarding burglary prevention, vacation check, ATM security, and lottery and Internet scams. With a station location in Oil City, Va., the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office has a K-9 division that performs duties related to building and vehicle searches, tracking criminals and crowd control.
