The Historic Caddo Lake Drawbridge in Mooringsport, Louisiana is a nationally significant civil engineering landmark and tourist attraction. Built in 1914, this unique Vertical-Lift design bridge was constructed by the Midland Bridge Company and is the sole surviving example of its kind in the state of Louisiana.
After facing the threat of demolition in the late 1980s, a citizen's campaign successfully saved the bridge and converted it into a pedestrian walkway. In 1996, it was officially entered into the National Register of Historic Places, and in 2014, the original patent plaques were mounted back on the bridge to commemorate its centennial anniversary.
