Arc of Greater New Orleans (ArcGNO) works to secure for all people with intellectual disabilities opportunities to develop, function, and live to their fullest potential through early support. Serving Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany Parish. Arc provides Family Service Coordination services through the EarlySteps program for families with infants and toddlers ages birth to 3 years (36 months) who have a medical condition and/or developmental delays. The Family Service Coordinators work with the families to assess needs and identify services for the children. With this assistance, parents can make informed decisions on how to best help their child. Children can be referred to EarlySteps by contacting the System Point of Entry (SPOE) in their region. Once the SPOE receives the referral, the family will be contacted to begin the eligibility determination process. Respite care: It is widely recognized that families providing care to a person with a developmental disability are exposed to psychological and physical stresses. Family members need time away, to take care of personal needs or simply to renew themselves. Respite services can be an invaluable resource and is offered through a program known as Project H.E.L.P To learn more about ArcGNO Family Support Coordination, call 504.897.4060.
