History
Founded in 1906, by Midway dry goods dealer, Edward Wise, the company has come a long way. Originally located at 159 E. Short St., the company grew out of the burley tobacco business. Wise began making covers for the horse-drawn wagons loaded with tobacco that came to Lexington's warehouses every fall. From wagon covers, Wise moved to tents and awnings. The company grew to branches in Knoxville and Louisville. After Wise's death in 1940, his son, the late Tom Wise, took over the business, and consolidated operations in Lexington. The company sells and manufactures a variety of products in 13 states, for individuals, business, industries and organizations. Everything from specialty covers, for trucks, gym floors, and athletic fields to safety swimming pool covers, and heat and noise barriers for factories.
