Based in Hyden, Ky., Leslie County High School is a part of Leslie County Schools. Established in 1959, the student body consists of nearly 630 students of grade 9 to 12. The subjects covered at the high school level are language arts, social studies, practical living, vocational studies, science, math, arts and humanities. It initiates several programs, including High Schools That Work, Tech-Prep and School-To-Careers. The school's sports activities include baseball, girl's softball, football, cheerleader's group as well as basketball team of both girls and boys. Extracurricular activities for students include academics, band, cheerleading group, dance, FBLA, FHA, HOSA, VICA, visual arts and yearbook.
