Jefferson Lumber Jefferson Lumber Company was founded in June of 1950. The present site was originally a potato farm. Construction of the original buildings could not begin until the final crops of potatoes were harvested. In those days the Watterson Expressway did not exist and parts of this two-lane country road were gravel. Some questioned why would you build a lumber company so far out in the country? Frank & Joe Wimsatt's foresight is why Jefferson Lumber is centrally located in the metro Louisville area. Located just minutes from Louisville International Airport and UPS's Main Hub makes for easy shipments to service our customers. Jefferson Lumber has no relationsip to Wimsatt Building Materials either now or in the past. Wimsatt is no longer owned by any of the Wimsatt Family, but by the Shelter Group out of Indianapolis which also owns West Roofing. Jefferson Lumber is proud of its Quality Business Practices for the past Fifty-Seven Years and looks forward to continuing these practices. Jefferson Lumber is currently owned and operated by Joe's son and daughter. Ed Hardison is a key member of our company family. Together we have expanded into the Commercial and Industrial-Supply market to meet the ever increasing demands for material by our customers. Our main goal is to supply our customers with the best quality merchandise at a competitive price. Our outstanding service to our customers will help us serve you well into the next millennium. We hope you will become part of our family and help us write the next chapter together.
