In the summer of 1981, Fellowship Book Centre opened in the "little white house" at 384 Vine Street in St. Catharines, Ontario. The store was opened under the ownership of a group of mainly Mennonite local Christian professionals. Fellowship Book Centre was managed by a number of individuals before Nettie Goerz took over management in 1984. The book store carried an assortment of books, Bibles, music, cards and gifts in both the English and German languages. During the mid1980's the store underwent a number of changes receiving a new name, a new home, and new owners. A new building was built on the property at 384 Vine Street. Fellowship Book Centre became Heritage Books and Music, and in 1987 Nettie Goerz along with her sister Marg Goerz, took over ownership of the store. Heritage continued to service the Niagara area and became more visible within the community as it set up book tables at various events and conferences. Heritage Christian Book Store underwent a number of renovations since 1998 to optimize the retail space. In September of 2003, Heritage moved into the Grantham Plaza. Heritage continues to carry a large selection of books, Bibles, music, gifts and cards geared toward the Christian community at large. The vision statement of Heritage Christian Book Store is To Be the best biblically based, non-denominational book store in the Niagara Region and in Canada." In working towards its vision, Heritage has established a mission statement: " To provide the best quality products, service and shopping environment possible ; and to enable people to fulfill the greatest commandment, to ' Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' ( Matt 22: 37 ), for what goes into the mind comes out in life."
