History
For over 80 years, the Harned family has been in the bar-b-q business in Paducah, Kentucky. In the 1930's, Slim and Annie Harned opened Slim's Bar-B-Q in the Old Arcadia area of Paducah. In 1955, the Harned's moved to 4421 Clark's River Road, off of highways 60, 62 and 68. Slim and Annie passed the restaurant on to their son Joe and his wife Juanita, though they waited until Joe and Juanita had been married a few years before sharing the hot sauce recipe with them! Joe and Juanita raised their four sons, Rick, Rock, Rhet and Rob, in the family business and all four made a career in the restaurant. Today, Rick, Rock and Rhet carry on the family tradition, using the same secret hot sauce and chili recipes that their grandmother Annie once used. Visit Harned's Drive-In today and you'll likely see part of the fourth generation of Harneds helping to carry on the bar-b-q legacy.
