Hardin County Confederates is a historical landmark in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, dedicated to honoring the soldiers from Hardin County who fought for the Confederacy during the War Between the States from 1861 to 1865. The majority of these soldiers served in John Hunt Morgan's Cavalry and the First Kentucky Brigade, known as The Orphan Brigade, which participated in numerous significant battles throughout the American South.
The Hardin County Confederates marker highlights the bravery and sacrifices of these soldiers, with a granite monument erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans in 1999. Additionally, the Confederate Place within the Elizabethtown City Cemetery features stones commemorating soldiers buried in unknown graves or those whose remains were never recovered from the battlefields. The site also includes a replica of the 10-pounder Parrott rifle, known as Long Tom, which was a cherished mascot of Morgan's Men and was dedicated in 2002 by the City of Elizabethtown and the Sons of Confederate and Union Veterans.
