Family Health Centers is a nonprofit corporation established by the Louisville-Jefferson County Board of Health in 1976 for providing residents with primary and preventive health services. The organization serves more than 40,000 patients annually through its various family health centers. It provides a variety of health services in several medical areas, including physician and nurse practitioner services, dental care, laboratory and X-ray services, pharmacy, obstetrics, child and adult medicine, and specialty and inpatient referral services. FHC s medical staff includes more than 40 physicians and nurse practitioners who specialize in family and internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. The organization s additional services include mental health, health education, case management services and transportation assistance. Its interpretive services are provided to non-English speaking patients. FHC also offers Medicaid and Medicare insurance plans for patients. The organization is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
