The Burlington Fire Protection District, founded in 1943, is a fire department of the city of Burlington. The department has three engines, two ambulances, a tanker, a ladder truck and a brush and air supply truck. Its personnel conduct annual fire safety inspections at area businesses, churches, schools and apartment. The members also test and paint fire hydrants, map new streets, conduct a fire prevention program and check a problematic smoke detector for an elderly resident. The Burlington Fire Protection District is headquartered in Burlington, Ky.
