History
Wichita Municipal Federal Credit Union was originally chartered in 1940 to serve municipal (city) employees of Wichita, Kansas. This meant that anyone working for the city of Wichita could join the credit union, including police, fire, and parks/recreation employees. The credit union continued to grow and serve more members, relocating to Wichita's newly constructed City Hall building in 1975. In 1997, a second location was opened at 13th & West Street and this location became our main office. The credit union expanded its field of membership in 2006 and became a community chartered federal credit union. Our field of membership is now open to anyone that resides, works, worships, or attends school in Sedgwick County, Kansas. Our name has been changed to Wichita Federal Credit Union to reflect our open membership. In 2013, WFCU will be opening a third location on the east side of Wichita, as we continue to grow and help our members with all of their financial needs.
