Wichita Children's Home, founded in 1888, is a charitable institution and an orphanage that supports and provides care for destitute and homeless children. The organization offers emergency and temporary residential center for children in Sedgwick County, Mo. It provides care for victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect, as well as runaways, children facing family crisis and children who may be at risk in their homes. Its BRIDGES is a three-phase transitional living program for adolescents aged from 16 to 21 years who have no safe living environment with family or relatives available to them. The organization s child access program serves nonresidential parents whose visits with their children must be supervised according to a court order. Additional services provided by the organization include case management, educational and employment assistance, drug and alcohol assessment, crisis counseling and referral services.
