Topeka Correctional Facility offers a work release program that includes employment opportunities for participating inmates and is managed by the Kansas Department of Corrections. The department provides the notification of specific changes to crime victims and families. It determines an inmate's custody classifications based on various factors, as well as prepares offenders release plans and special conditions of supervision listings. The Kansas Department of Corrections operates through several divisions, including facilities management, programs and staff development, and community and field services. It also participates in a range of state activities in the areas of mental health service planning, substance abuse prevention, community re-entry, and rehabilitation and restoration.
