Rainbows United was founded in 1972 as a developmental training center for children with multiple disabilities who were ineligible for special education services provided through the public schools. The center presently serves children with varied abilities and needs. It provides community- and home-based services for children with special needs. The center offers hearing and vision specialty assistance, respite care, case management and supported family living services. Rainbows United offers a range of early intervention services, including speech and language therapies, family service coordination, transportation, and nutrition and nursing assistance. In addition, it serves children with autism spectrum disorders and offers foster and therapeutic child care services. Rainbows United maintains a presence in Wichita, Kan.
