Slate Creek Elementary School
Founded in 1997, Slate Creek Elementary School enrolls more than 450 students and offers classes from grades kindergarten through five. The school s curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, math, science and technology, social studies, health education, English, computer science, arts and crafts, music and physical education. It has athletic teams for gymnastics, bowling, football, volleyball, cross-country, tennis, wrestling, swimming, soccer, baseball, softball and golf. The school also offers various extracurricular activities, such as band, orchestra, Odyssey of the Mind science Olympiad, drama, debate and forensic clubs. Its library has a collection of more than 10,000 books, and offers an online catalog for students and teachers. Located in Newton, Kan., Slate Creek Elementary School is a part of the Newton Public Schools.
