History
Lacey Lewis School of Realist Art first opened in Kansas City, KS as Red Door Studios, a multi-artist space founded by figurative painter Lacey Lewis. In 2011, Lewis chose to move her space into the Hobbs Building in the historic West Bottoms, where a number of other artists also maintain independent studios, allowing her to focus on her own studio practice and classes. Now with an increasing number of class offerings, Lewis is expanding the business under the new name Lacey Lewis School of Realist Art and will be relocating to a new space in Mission, KS in April 2019.
Specialties
Lacey Lewis School of Realist Art offers art instruction in drawing and painting realistically, using an 'atelier inspired' method that is adaptable to each student's individual goals and experience level. Group classes as well as private lessons and semi-private lesson groups are available. While our focus is on figurative art and portraiture, we welcome any student interested in learning how to depict any subject realistically through traditional media.
