The Labette County Sheriff's Office preserves human lives and property, protects public peace and the rights of citizens, prevents crime and disorder, and enforces local, county and federal laws. It supports and conducts several youth events and neighborhood and vacation watch programs. The Labette County Sheriff's Office operates an 83-bed jail and detention center that provides safe, secure and humane confinement to pretrial detainees and convicted criminals. The office supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior.
