HistoryKeys of Joy! Studio was opened by Evan and his sister, Paige, in August 2011 with 12 students. Paige married in 2014 and now lives with her husband and her cat in Kansas City. The distance prevents her from teaching but Paige remains very involved as Marketing and Events Manager. Evan and his father, John are the studio's instructors. We now help more than 60 students of all ages express their natural musicality. We are the fastest growing piano studio in the area and about half our students are adults ages 18 and up; the other half are children ages 5 to 17. We recently completed the first phase of a major upgrade to the studio. Designed to support piano instruction and other musical activities that contribute to our students enjoyment of learning how to play, our facility now includes a new classroom, a large piano lounge for learning and student performances, offices, new restrooms, and a lobby. The studio is equipped with Steinway and Yamaha pianos.SpecialtiesSimply Music at Keys of Joy! is a breakthrough. Our students achieve victory at the piano, in every lesson and every time they practice at home. In much less time than other methods require, our students 1) Play a huge repertoire of classical, popular, blues, jazz songs and accompaniments, 2) Experience playing the piano as a natural form of self-expression, 3) Enjoy a highly positive, self-affirming experience in lessons and when they practice at home, and 4) Acquire a strong foundation in music reading and theory so that they develop the ability to self-generate and progress independently.
