The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., was created in 1997. Wyandotte County, Kan., has a population of more than 150,000 residents. It provides a wide range of public welfare, economic development, employment, planning and zoning, educational, transportation and health services. The District Courts Department encompasses five divisions under which more than 15 judges handle over 40,000 annually filed cases in Wyandotte County. The court administrator supervises and coordinates the administrative functions and operations of the District Court and also supervises and directs the activities of nonjudicial personnel. District Court Services coordinates jurors' records and transcribes all court proceedings and performs programming of all divisions, judges and staff. Its Domestic Court Services provides court-ordered services in child custody and visitation disputes.
