Dan Nagle Walnut Grove Pioneer Village was a Scott County cross-roads settlement and stage coach stop of the 1860s. The Village, as an open-air museum, today is run by volunteers from the Friends of Walnut Grove and employees from Scott County Conservation. The village includes 22 historic buildings, including an 1870 church, one-room country school, Chicago-Milwaukee-St. Paul train depot, blacksmith shop and working soda fountain on summer weekends. We have six events each year, a church that can be rented out for weddings, school tours, 8 weeks of day camp in summer, and family gatherings.
