The Rathbun Regional Water Association, based in Centerville, Iowa, is an organization that provides water to more than 15,000 rural families, farms and communities. The organization operates a water treatment plant, service center, maintenance buildings, elevated storage tanks and pumping stations. It also maintains a pipeline of 6,500 miles. Its treatment plant can process more than 8 million gallons of water per day. Its water quality factors, including alkalinity, hardness, turbidity, color and levels of magnesium and calcium are monitored at regular intervals as water leaves the treatment plant. The bacterial analysis is made in accordance with state and federal safe-drinking water standards. Its service area includes parts of Appanoose, Clark, Davis, Decatur, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Louisa, Marion, Monroe, VanBuren, Mahaska, Wapello, Warren, Washington and Wayne counties in Iowa. The association s service area also includes rural water districts in Putnam, Mercer and Schuyler counties in Missouri.
