Founded in 1979, the North Iowa Transition Center is a nonprofit organization that provides community-based services for individuals suffering from various mental illnesses and psychiatric disabilities. The center, also known as NITC, offers a variety of rehabilitative solutions, including informal counseling, personal care guidance, psychiatric care, and medication and symptom management services. It provides transportation, affordable housing, housekeeping, meal planning, educational and budgeting services. The North Iowa Transition Center also organizes various games, trips, and birthday and Christmas parties. The center offers assistance with the development of self-sufficiency and independent living skills. In addition, it provides respite care, work assessment and remedial services. The North Iowa Transition Center encourages individuals for participating in community events.
