Mascara Park is a “pocket park” adjacent to the Opera House. It is named Mascara Park after Elkader’s Sister City in Algeria. It features a pathway with bricks purchased to honor or memorialize a donor. This path leads to a fountain in the rear of the park and a sign dedicating the park to Elkader’s Sister City. It also features two peace poles – the original peace pole and a new version that was created by local artist Adam Pollock. An identical one was sent to Mascara, Algeria.
