For Dr. Scott, joining The Iowa Clinic was an opportunity he couldn’t refuse. Being able to practice his medical specialties alongside a large and highly capable group of providers, while raising his family in Des Moines was important in his decision to join the Clinic. While in medical school, Dr. Scott enjoyed caring for patients where their situation was dire, which led to his love of the ICU. Pulmonary provides him with the opportunity of combining critical care with a wide range of illness severity and allowed him to manage the wide range of sleep issues that patients suffer with. Helping relieve suffering of patients and their families when a patient is critically ill, short of breath, or having difficulty sleeping is something Dr. Scott finds most rewarding. Having grown up in rural Virginia on a chicken and cattle farm, Dr. Scott is no stranger to the feelings of the Midwest. Together with his wife Brittney and their two children, he enjoys spending time with family, enjoying good music, playing guitar, exercising, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. If he was not a physician, he might have been an ICU nurse to continue working with people and having hands on experience.
