Iowa School for the Deaf, also known as ISD, offers a range of academic and enrichment programs. The school serves individuals with hearing disabilities throughout Iowa and Nebraska. It also administers a variety of boarding and summer programs. The school maintains a museum and library and operates an extended support program. Iowa School for the Deaf provides opportunities for sports activities, such as basketball, football and volleyball. The school organizes chess tournaments and leadership camps. It operates the ASTRA Service Club and student council. The school offers sign language classes and administers a parent-teacher-staff-student Association. Iowa School for the Deaf works in collaboration with Lewis Central Community Schools.
